Mission accomplished - Part 2

DSCN2267
Or…Home, Sweet Home!

Yes, we’re finally settled in our new home, the last part of this grand adventure we’ve been on the past year. What a relief! It’s so good to be in a routine once again, with order to our days and a new sense of place and belonging.

Our house-hunting efforts were not successful for many weeks. For one reason or another we dismissed each one and though we knew God had the perfect house somewhere, it was hard to wait. We thought we wanted to be in a rural area that seemed right for our needs and so had focused our looking there. Finally one day in November my dear hubby proposed a different thought—a neighborhood in an area closer in to our families and amenities, not rural but a better fit in many ways. Suddenly it seemed right, and believe it or not, within two hours we found our house!

Everything went fast and we moved in early December, in plenty of time to decorate for Christmas. It is perfect for us—a short walk to my in-laws’ house, an easy drive to other family, shopping, and our church. I have a lovely place to walk and ride my bike with “scope for the imagination” as Anne of Green Gables would say—gorgeous views in every direction of mountains and rolling plains, with stunning sunrises and sunsets to wonder at from our back deck or living room window. A short walk from the house are a few ponds with ducks, Canadian geese, widgeons, and red-wing blackbirds in abundance. And the house is perfect for our people-life here with room to do what we need. We’re so thankful!

We’re still getting used to the richness of being near all our families. Forever it was just the three of us, and now our calendar is full of dinners and events and get-togethers of one sort or another. Such goodness! It’s an honor to have our home a place of blessing to these dear people.

I have to give glory to God for the million ways He’s helped us, for His lavish kindness and the loving plans He had stored up for us. He helped me through some tough days when my own strength failed. He took to heart every prayer I prayed about this move and has just blown me away with His answers and attention to detail.

Well, that’s the big picture and a long-overdue update. I’m feeling like I can finally get back to some of my personal pleasures—blogging among them, so stay tuned!

  1. What a lovely testimony, Wendy. And it is encouraging, too. When we moved in to this town home, we felt it was one step above an apartment building, with neighbors too close. We longed for a country home. But the Lord knew exactly what we needed in this season of our lives, and we are now (almost) happy to stay right here until the Lord provides us with something different for the next "season". I'm still checking the MLS, but getting used to the idea of this being home for a while longer.
