Thanksgiving
Happy day-after-Thanksgiving! Hope yours was a blessing in every way. Aren't we so abundantly showered with every good thing by our good God? At our church's Thanksgiving Eve service, our pastor exhorted us to look at all we do have, on the answers rather than the problems and difficulties. A good reminder, as it's too easy to be overwhelmed by the sense of need on every hand.
Before this focus on Thanksgiving is lost in the tide of all-things-Christmas, I want to thank the Lord for His incomparable, wonderful, incredible Word. I could list a thousand manifest specifics I'm thankful for, all under the heading of His lovingkindness in my life. But to consider the gift of the revelation of Himself, His heart, and what He's done for us--the Word--moves me to the highest praise. To be given a plumbline for right and wrong, detailed instruction on how to live with blessing and favor, to have life explained, to be invited to relationship with the One who made me, to have my future described, to find freedom from guilt and fear, to learn how to love others, to be given vast purpose for life...oh...
..."Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift"! (II Cor. 9:15)

Beautiful and true words.
